Alternative Elective Rotation & Out of State Rotation Scheduling Policy Students may request alternative (non-NLU PA Program) rotation sites for their elective supervised clinical practice experiences only. All requests must be submitted in writing to the Director of Clinical Education no less than sixteen (16) weeks in advance of preceptorships that have not yet been confirmed. Requests submitted after the established deadline will not be considered. An external rotation site must meet the NLU PA Program's training standards and provide a safe learning environment. The Director of Clinical Education has the right to refuse any site that does not meet program objectives. Completion of a request form does not guarantee student placement at the requested site. Students are prohibited from completing clinical rotations at a site where their family, close friends, or personal healthcare providers are employed, unless otherwise agreed to in advance by the Program Director. To request an alternative or out-of-state elective rotation, the student must submit the following at least 90 days in advance of the planned start date: • A written request to the Director of Clinical Education via email • A completed Outside Preceptor Information Form (available from the Director of Clinical Education) • A copy of the proposed preceptor's current curriculum vitae (CV) • A Preceptor Letter of Intent and Preceptor Application, as well as notice on the preceptor's letterhead indicating willingness to serve as a preceptor, ability to meet program objectives, and agreement to abide by NLU PA Program guidelines Rotation Travel and Commuting Policy Students are solely responsible for all travel arrangements, housing, and costs associated with any rotation, and must ensure attendance at all return-to-campus activities and examinations during the rotation period. Student Health Compliance Requirements The NLU PA Program requires that each student have documented medical clearance and current immunization records on file before progressing to supervised clinical practice experiences. Students are required to meet the immunization requirements of the program, clinical rotation sites, and the CDC prior to engagement in any clinical activities. Immunization records and TB screenings must be submitted to the program and uploaded into the program's tracking system.
