Clinical Year Handbook Final

Appendix J: Six-Competency Summative Evaluation Blueprint The NLU MSPAS Program conducts a separate, direct, and documented summative evaluation of each student within the final four months of program completion to verify achievement of all Program- defined competencies required for entry -level PA practice. The Program’s six competencies - C1 Medical Knowledge, C2 Interpersonal Skills, C3 Clinical Skills, C4 Technical Skills, C5 Professional Behaviors, and C6 Clinical Reasoning and Problem-Solving - collectively address all domains identified in ARC -PA Standard B4.03. Each competency and applicable component is mapped to specific summative examination items, OSCE stations, technical skills assessment criteria, and/or professionalism assessment criteria, using defined scoring standards. Individual results are documented in the student’s Summative Competency Record and retained in the Program’s designated assessment repository. The complete summative evaluation is administered during the final four months of program completion, independent of previous student evaluations, and results are reviewed through the Program’s established assessment and governance structure and incorporated into continuous quality improvement activities.
