Appendix I: Program Learning Outcomes and Professionalism Assessments The NLU PA Program has adopted five Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) that operationalize the Program’s six competencies (see Appendix J) into measurable graduate abilities. Each PLO is mapped to spec ific courses and assessed through defined strategies and benchmarks, reviewed annually as part of the Program’s continuous quality improvement (CQI) process. PLO 1 - Medical Knowledge Outcome Statement: Graduates will demonstrate comprehensive medical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, behavioral health, and diagnostic principles necessary for safe, entry-level physician assistant practice across the lifespan. Curricular Alignment: Medical Anatomy and Lab; Pathophysiology I & II; Pharmacology I & II; Adult Medicine I & II; Pediatric Medicine I & II; Reproductive Health; Geriatrics and Interprofessional Practice; and all Supervised Clinical Practice Experien ces (SCPEs). Assessment Strategies: Didactic course examinations (benchmark: ≥80% cohort pass rate with course grades ≥80%); End -of- Didactic cumulative examination (≥80% cohort pass rate); PACKRAT (cohort performance at or above the national mean); SCPE En d-of- Rotation exams (≥80% cohort pass rate with exam grades ≥80%); Summative written examination given four months prior to graduation (≥80% cohort pass rate); and first -time PANCE pass rate (at or above the national average for each cohort). PLO 2 - Interpersonal Skills Outcome Statement: Graduates will demonstrate effective, compassionate, culturally responsive, and professional communication with patients, families, caregivers, and interprofessional members of the healthcare team. Curricular Alignment: P hysical Examination and Documentation I & II; Geriatrics and Interprofessional Practice; Behavioral Medicine; the didactic and clinical SOAR I –VIII series; and all SCPEs. Assessment Strategies: Summative Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) ( ≥80% cohort pass rate); clinical preceptor evaluations, interpersonal communication domain (≥80% of cohort attains “Meets Expectations”); and student self -assessment of programmatic PLOs completed during community health and clinical experiences in SOAR I– VIII (benchmark: Likert rating >3 by ≥80% of cohort).
