Eligibility and Application Process
Who is Eligible to Join the UHP? Eligible students must be campus-based in Chicago or Wheeling and have a 3.3 or above as their high school, transfer, or NLU GPA. New students must have already applied and been accepted to NLU. Transfer or continuing NLU students entering the UHP cannot be in their last three terms of coursework. How to Apply to the UHP as a New Student to NLU: 1). After completing your initial application to NLU, enter the NLU application portal again using the “returning student” tab. 2). Provide the following requested materials as an attachment: a. An academic work from one of your classes that highlights your strengths and skills or b. A creative submission that helps us to get to know you better and reflects your interests and skills. Examples include a photograph of a visual artwork you created, a video of a musical performance or sports highlight, an artifact from a service project, or an original poem, short story, or song. 3) Complete the two required short answer questions.
How to Apply to the UHP as a continuing NLU student:
1) Send a sample of your academic work from one of your classes at NLU or a creative submission that helps us get to know you better and reflects your interests and skills. Email this sample to UHPDirector@nl.edu . In the body of your email, answer the following questions: 1) Why are you interested in joining the UHP, and how will your unique strengths and skills contribute to the program? 2) Why did you include this specific example of your work (creative or academic) to illustrate your abilities? *Applications to the UHP are reviewed on a rolling basis; all applications for the fall term must be received by August 18.
