following sections. Further detail can be found at the APA Style and Grammar website: https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines
Title Page: • Students should follow the “Sample Title Page” (available in the Microsoft Teams ISPP Student Resources channel ) • Students should outline their title page to approximate the text centering and line spacing as demonstrated in this example. • The student’s name should appear as they intend to use it professionally, as it will appear on their diploma. It should have either their middle name or initial. • The dates on the bottom of the page are the month and year of submitting the digital copy of the final draft to Digital Commons. • The title page is not numbered. Table of Contents: • The Table of Contents follows the Title page. • The Table of Contents page is not numbered. • The Table of Contents page does not have a running head. • The Table of Contents should be double spaced and formatted with regular margins. • The headings and subheadings should match the dissertation exactly (e.g., if the dissertation heading for Chapter 1 is “Chapter 1: Introduction” this should be what is listed in the Table of Contents). • Designate chapter numbers in the Table of Contents. The following format should be used: Dedication/Acknowledgments: • Dedication and/or acknowledgments are optional but usually included. • If included, they follow the Table of Contents, and if both are used, they must be on separate pages with the dedication section coming first. • The title, “Dedication” should be centered on the top of the page and the rest written in regular paragraph form. • These pages are numbered with lower case Roman numerals, so for the dedication page, type i in the right-hand corner as a page number. Abstract: • Students should follow the APA Manual on writing an abstract. • Number 1 should be used as a page number (see above). • Students should use the active rather than the passive voice, and verbs rather than their noun equivalents. • The present tense should be used to describe conclusions drawn; use past tense to describe specific variables manipulated or outcomes measured. Typing : • Margins: 1-inch margins all around (left, right, top, and bottom) • Font: The dissertation must be 12 pt. Times New Roman Font throughout. • Spacing: The entire dissertation is to be typed double spaced, including: o Lengthy quotes (as described in the APA Manual as 40 words or more) are to be indented a half inch from the left margin and double-spaced. o Entries in the Reference section are to be double-spaced within an entry and double-spaced between entries. Indent all lines of a reference entry 3 spaces, except the first line, which begins at the left margin. (This is hanging indent format.)
