Submit their application to the IRB. • Note: The turnaround time of the IRB application varies depending on the time of the year, number of applications, and other factors. The IRB typically responds in 1-2 weeks, but students should plan for at least 30 days.
Note: Failure to meet the above deadlines will result in removal from the internship application process.
Important: Students must submit their application to the IRB by June 1 to apply for internship.
Deadlines to Graduate and to Obtain Doctoral Degree Students are encouraged to complete the dissertation project prior to internship and must complete their dissertation by the end of their internship year. • To participate in graduation, students must complete the final draft of the dissertation, obtain approval from all committee members, complete copy editing, obtain final approval from their chair, and submit the final draft to NLU Digital Commons no later than April 30 of the year in which the student will graduate. In order to meet this deadline, students should submit final drafts of their dissertations to their chairs no later than the beginning of February of the year they plan to graduate. • For the doctoral degree to be awarded, students must complete the research dissemination task and submit all required documents to Tevera.
Note: Students cannot accrue postdoc hours until the doctoral degree is officially awarded.
Extensions: Students must complete their dissertation within the 7-year limit for the doctoral program. Any student exceeding this time limit may be withdrawn. Students may petition for an extension of this deadline but will be required to provide clear evidence of extenuating factors that impeded their progress. Important: Students must wait until a copy of the final academic transcript and final letter of completion are received before referring to themselves as clinical psychologists or using the title "Doctor." Institutional Review Board (IRB) Procedures
After the dissertation committee approves the dissertation proposal and submits the Scholarship Competency Evaluation Rubrics, students will submit their research plan to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for approval. Students must have their chair’s approval of their IRB
