Learning and Library Support

NLU has Learning and Library support for doctoral students working on their dissertations.

Doctoral Student Writing and Learning Support Services The NLU Graduate Writing Specialist, Carlos Alverio, works exclusively with doctoral students. All doctoral students can schedule a time to discuss any writing they are doing at any stage of the writing process. Writing consultation appointments are intended to be interactive and collaborative. The sessions can focus on a range of issues, for example, organization, argumentation, development of academic writing voice, or grammar, but the purpose is not proofreading or editing. The goal is to help doctoral students develop as effective writers in their fields. Students can access resources and make appointments through the Learning Support website: https://nl.edu/learning-support/. NLU Library Resources The NLU Library offers help guides, workshops, and individual research consultations. Students can make an appointment with a librarian to discuss their research questions, develop effective search strategies, locate articles and testing instruments, and maximize use of technological supports like reference managers (such as Zotero) and AI-powered researcher tools.
