National Louis University FY22 Impact Report

For some, the financial and time commitments of a four-year college degree are too much.

National Louis University (NLU) launched Accelerate U in July 2021 to help learners become economically stabilized by providing a rapid pathway to full- time, in-demand jobs and careers. Through this innovative “job-first” higher education model, students can begin their new career in three to seven months. We began our first track — Registered Medical Assistant — in response to employer needs and the high number of job openings in this sector. Each medical assistant learner completes six months of online and in-person training, followed by a one-month field-based externship. Upon completion, Accelerate U graduates have preferential application status with partner healthcare employers to launch their careers, and up to 30 credit hours to apply towards other credentials or a bachelor’s degree. The Registered Medical Assistant pathway is the first of several anticipated career tracks that NLU plans to offer over the long term. In early 2023, Accelerate U launched its second track — Registered Behavior Technician — for those who wish to work with individuals on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities. Future tracks will include information technology and business, as well as additional opportunities in healthcare.
