SUMMER 2026 • VOLUME 17
A MESSAGE FROM THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR Leah Horvath, PhD PROGRAM DIRECTOR, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Greetings, ISPP Community and Friends! Summer is rushing to a close and I am rushing to finish my note so we can all move onto fall! Every year, the summer term seems to fly by – it’s hard to believe that kids are back in school, the days are getting shorter, and the ISPP campus areas are about to be full of people again! But in all the rush of the summer days I did find some moments to rest, relax, and be with my loved ones - I hope you did, too! In this issue, we celebrate our graduates. I say this every year at the new student orientation – graduation is my favorite day! It’s one of the primary reasons I am in this job and have stayed in it for 20 years. I love to see the joy on our grads faces, the pride that exudes from their family and friends, and know that all the years of effort have paid off. Congratulations to our class of 2026! We are also celebrating our new cohort of interns who are trainng all across the country. In this very competitive internship landscape, they had to work really hard to show their excellence. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them all the best as they start this next chapter of doctoral training. We are thrilled to welcome two new faculty to the program and to welcome back Dr. Sandra Zakowski who had been on sabbatical. But as one returns, one heads out. It’s Dr. Margaret Warner’s turn for sabbatical! We will miss her on campus this year, but wish her an enjoyable and productive sabbatical. And finally -in this issue, we spotlight one of our excellent PsyD students, Sarah Prather, and an outstanding alum, Dr. Ashwini Lal. I hope you enjoy reading about them both! And - in case you are looking for the perfect fall wear or accessories – check out our ISPP Merch! We have two options – one with the ISPP logo created by our student Tina Giordano: ISPP Logo Merch, and an I Heart ISPP option here. Both are sure to add a little delight to your day. Sending my best to our ISPP community.

The ISPP Peer Mentoring Program is run by the ISPP Student Assembly, and pairs established ISPP students with peers who are newer to the program. The role of a peer mentor is to provide support, encouragement, and information to a fellow student throughout their time at ISPP. Please fill out this survey if you are interested in being paired up!
