This Baccalaureate Nursing Student Handbook is an adjunct to the University Student Guidebook (https://nl.edu/student-services/student-affairs/student-guidebook/ ). Students are expected to read and abide by both documents. Students will submit an attestation form related to the reading and understanding of this handbook in their initial term of attendance and then every September thereafter while enrolled in the program. University Purpose: National Louis University (NLU) is committed to preparing professionals and engaged citizens. We strive to facilitate learning and develop character, and we expect students to uphold values that advance their communities. The NLU Student Code of Conduct provides a framework to guide the personal conduct of all NLU students as members of an academic and professional community, as students assume an obligation to conduct themselves in a manner compatible with the University’s function as an educational institution. As an expression of NLU’s expectations of student conduct, the Code of Conduct facilitates an environment that is safe, welcoming, and supportive of all students meeting their academic and professional goals.

These practice-ready graduates will have demonstrated competencies through practice experiences with individuals, families, communities, and populations within four spheres of care; disease prevention/health promotion; chronic disease management; regenerative/restorative care and hospice/palliative/supportive care across the age span.
