2025 Student Speaker
Shania Jones Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education
This fall, she will begin her first full-time teaching role at Charles Evans Hughes Elementary School, located in the uprising North Lawndale community—a neighborhood she feels called to invest in by nurturing future generations. A proud first-generation graduate, Shania hopes her story inspires others to rise above doubt and walk boldly toward their purpose. Now pursuing her Master’s in Reading Education, she remains steadfast in her mission to learn, lead, and promote equity in every classroom she enters.
Shania Jones grew up on the South Side of Chicago and is graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. With six years of experience working with children—primarily in special education—she is passionate about creating inclusive, supportive spaces where all students can thrive. During her time at NLU, Shania earned uninterrupted Dean’s List distinction, was inducted into the Tau Sigma National Honor Society, and established
a peer support network to uplift fellow student teachers during their practicum experience.
